TravelMap tracking app

NEW: The TravelMap tracking app is an Android and iOS app with a built-in GPS tracker.

Requires having a Premium Plus account.

Presentation: travelmap.net/live-tracking

It is a tracking app that replaces the other smartphone apps compatible with our Live Tracking (Wayward, OsmAnd and GPSLogger) but is much easier to set up.

Just login with your TravelMap account, choose your trip, select your transport mode and start tracking.

Tracking updates your map in real time when you have mobile data. Without connectivity, your GPS data is stored on your device and synced automatically when you are back online.

It does not replace the current web-based TravelMap administration — you still manage your trips, spots and photos from the website.

The app is not yet officially available on the App Store or Play Store. It is currently in beta and available by invite only (via TestFlight on iOS and internal testing on Android). Contact me if you want to get access.

Set up guide for beta-testers

Once installed, you just need to grant the required permissions described below.

You'll need to accept sharing your location « All the time » so that the tracking works even when the screen is locked or the app is closed.
The tracking data (latitude, longitude, date and time) is sent to our servers directly and only used to update your map.

You should also accept sharing your « Motion & Fitness Activity » so that the GPS chip can be turned off when your device is not moving.
The app is highly optimized to track your itinerary without draining your battery.

You can choose the level of accuracy you want for your itinerary from the Settings page of the app.
