TravelMap is 10 years old

January 1, 2024

Back to blog

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of the public launch of TravelMap.

It feels like a success to me knowing that most startups usually don't last very long. TravelMap has been self-funded from the start and always profitable, even during Covid.

Better yet, it allowed me to work on something I love from anywhere in the world without stressful deadlines.

I feel very confident about the future of the platform.

Today won't change anything though. I'll keep doing what I've been doing for the past 10 years. Trying to provide value to other travelers while taking time off to enjoy life with my family.

Best wishes,

Clement

Congrats, I just started to use the Travelmap, the UI is pretty un-intuitive from time to time, and what bothers me the most: the google location search doesn't find most of the things. Also the inputfield is somehow broken, (cmd+a doesn't work and long press on back neither).. Hit me up, when you need help fixing that. I'm willing to fix a couple of stuff, for some account upgrades, If you're interested. I'm this guy https://ch.linkedin.com/in/matthiasjaeggli

Get me right: I actually really like the product, that wasn't supposed to sound like a rant..

Hi Matthias, Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! I'm aware of these issues and I'm currently working on a UI update. I'm using an open-source solution for the location search (https://photon.komoot.io) which is cheap to host but doesn't provide very good results. I'm going to replace this search engine with a better version (like Google Maps search) for paid users. Don't hesitate to contact me through the website if you have any issues or other suggestions ;) I'll probably reach out to you to test the upcoming version. Best, Clement

Sure thing, I can help testing...
