When you create your TravelMap account, you'll have one trip added by default (named "My map" or "My itinerary").
A trip is a map
A trip on TravelMap represents a new map with its attached photos, posts, videos and links.
You can create as many trips as you want for free.
So it's best to create a new trip whenever you go on a new adventure. Example: Canada 2024, Asia 2025, etc.
Check out the Global Map feature to learn more about how you can display all your itinearies on the same map
Manage trips
You can rename your trips, add descriptions, change the link to each of them and create new ones:
- open the Settings page in your administration
- open the Trips page
- select an existing trip to edit it or click on New
Homepage trip
As soon as you have more than one trip, you can choose which one will be displayed first when opening the direct link to your blog.
Here are some example trips from my blog:
- clem.travelmap.net/cycling-around-australia
- clem.travelmap.net/canada
- clem.travelmap.net <-- Homepage trip
It's usually best to set your current or latest trip as the homepage trip so you can simply share the link to your blog to your followers.
If you don't check the box "Set as homepage", you'll be able to change the direct link to that trip.
Editing trips
You can provide a description for each trip. It will be displayed on the About page of your blog.
Advanced options
Most people won't need to edit these. But you can:
- change the default map zoom to center your map on the latest spot
- change the distance unit for that specific trip
- protect this specific trip with a password
Deleting trips
Select a trip to open the edit page, then click on the Delete button in the top right corner of the page.
You'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete everything associated with this trip. This includes:
- all the spots added on the Map page to trace your itinerary
- any photos added for that trip
- posts
- videos
- comments from visitors
Alternatively, you can set that specific trip as private. Keeping trips doesn't cost anything.
